Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Mission Training Center?

We are located in New York City in Elmhurst, Queens. Queens is the most culturally diverse place in the world and Elmhurst is the most culturally diverse neighborhood in Queens. Elmhurst covers about 1.5 square miles and is home to approximately 100,000 people. Around 140 languages are spoken in Queens and many of those languages are spoken in Elmhurst.

What about transportation? I’m afraid to drive in the city!

The Training Center is only a 5-minute walk from the MTA Train System and just around the corner from a bus stop making public transportation throughout the whole city very easy. We are also close to both JFK and LGA airports and can arrange to pick you up. Besides, you meet many more people while walking or taking public transportation. Isn’t meeting people what missions is all about?

But isn’t NYC a very expensive place to live? Couldn’t we do this cheaper and easier in a rural setting?

Yes, NYC is very expensive – but that is also where the people are. Our daily outreach times would be difficult, if not impossible, in much of rural America. The cultural diversity of Elmhurst makes this the perfect place for a Mission Training Center.

NYC? Isn’t it really dangerous there?

The safest place in the world is in the center of God’s Will. If God wants you here He will take care of you, but to put your mind at ease, we live in a very safe neighborhood. For comparison, NYC has a much lower crime rate per capita than Lancaster city, PA.
